A Great New Restaurant

Updated: Dec 30, 2018

A sure sign that Omaha is growing in the right direction is the addition of Chaikhana on 90th and Blondo Streets. Thanks to owner Rus Saidov, Omahans now have another option for dinner that isn't the same ol' Chinese food, tacos or burgers.

Chaikhana serves authentic Tajikistan dishes in a friendly, comfortable environment. Before they opened their restaurant, the closest place I knew of to get these dishes was Brooklyn, New York.

Planning for Chaikhana actually began 8 years ago. It took a lot of planning and years of saving but Rus' dream of bringing a piece of his old home, to his new one was finally realized.

The food is not at all exotic or unusual. It's more like comfort food you'd expect at a Russian grandma's home. The choices of dishes include vegetable, beef, chicken, fish and lamb. My absolute favorite is the Beef Manti. You can browse their full menu here.

I highly recommend you stop in and check it out. They have beer on tap, excellent tea, and the most comfortable booths I've ever sat in.
